The Big Rock is over. What a long week with very slow fishing for almost everyone. The first two days were slow for us, with a white marlin trying both flatlines and a few dolphin hitting the deck. On Thursday, our third day of fishing, we had our shot when a 500lb Blue Marlin piled on the left short rigger and the fight was on. Unfortunately after running 500 plus yards off the 130, she threw the hook on us. We fished our last day on Saturday and again a long slow day dodging big thunderstorms.
On Saturday before the Big Rock, we had a great group on board for a day of charter fishing and ended up with a good catch of dolphin, a few gaffers and the rest bailers. Had a white marlin on the left teaser, but never got a bite out of the fish.
On a good note, the fishing from Wrightsville Beach has been good this past week, with lots of Dolphin, some sailfish, king macks, and a scattered wahoo and marlin. We are fishing Friday and Saturday but are open the rest of the week.
I have had several folks inquire about a make-up trip in the next few weeks, so give me a call if you would like to be part of a make-up trip.
