Inshore Fishing Report March 7, 2007 Jupiter, Palm Beach
The strong winds continue. That has been the story the past two weeks, along with the passing cool fronts we have experienced. The fishing has been steady up in the Lox River targeting Snook, and Jacks. The Snook bite has been great around docks and sea walls, with the average Snook ranging from 18 to 28 inches. The bait of choice lately has been live shrimp and greenies when accessible. The Bridges have also been great for Snook with many of the bigger Snook being caught from the bridges. Live finger mullet provide the best results for these monsters. The average size Snook being caught around the bridges is 8 to 22lbs. The Jack bite has been awesome around the sea walls with these explosive fish any live bait or top water lure will produce a hook up. The Jacks are schooled up and are 1 to 15lbs. The mangrove snapper and sheep head bite has been steady around the docks, with a majority of the fish making the slot limit.
The Night fishing has been good but not great it will pick up as the water warms. The Snook are stacked under the dock lights, but have been really shy lately. The best results have been throwing a fly rod at them. The fly of choice has been a green clouser and a white clouser. Live shrimp free lined at the bridges will also produce fish.
