Captain Judy's Saltwater Fishing Report
Inshore, Offshore, Freshies Suggestions, and "Little Miss Judy's Believe It or Not!"
Blake Durham has figured out how to get a fish to take his hook!
There are occasions where a fish will hit what you present to at any time. However, there are also times when a fish won't even look or even sniff at what you are offering up as bait. Blake Durham has one of those "fish not much interested" days just recently. He along with his fishing crew decided to give the shipping channel buoys a try for some cobia. As he made his way offshore he checked buoy after buoy looking for the allusive cobia. On board for bait he had a little of everything from live bait to the real dead old smelly stuff.
After checking his third buoy cobia were found! I don't know about you, but even though I have seen and caught many of these fish in the past, I still get excited! Blake went into presenting bait after bait, which the fish just seemed to turn his nose up at. After throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the old fish he decided to give a live menhaden a try. And this is where it gets real exciting! Not only did the fish jump on the bait, but also it swallowed it whole!
As you already guessed the hooked fish "did run and run and run!" Blake was using ultra light tackle giving the angler plenty of sport. After about 40 minutes the 40-pound plus fish was landed and put in the fish box! Congratulations to Blake and his motley fishing crew!
