July 24th through July 30th.

Overall Success Rate: 64%

BILLFISH: Ok, last week was not the best for billfish, we had sightings of over 20 marlin however, there is a lot of bait available, tons of mackerel and caballito and flying fish are on the area making fish hard to catch, we have cast the bait and hit them in the head many times, but they are just feasting on bait all day, hopefully the excess of bait will go away with the currents and we will go back to our usual catches of the summer.

We did have some great catches this week despite the excess of bait available.

On July 26th, Rebecca landed a 200 lbs Blue Marlin for the Woerner Family from Dallas Texas, it was caught on blue and white lure at the 95 spot, unfortunately, the fish died before it was released.

On the 28th, Cabolero came back after a couple of weeks of maintenance and they made a big comeback, they released one Blue Marlin, one Striped marlin and landed 10 yellow fin tuna for Ken Francis, Todd Anderson and Matt Barlette from Los Angeles and Napa, California, the blue marlin was caught on guacamayo lure, the striper on live bait and the tuna with cedar plugs, all of them about 20 miles from Cabea de Ballena on the Sea of Cortez.

That same day, departing from Puerto Los Cabos in San Jose del Cabo, the 26ft Superpanga "Cabo Playa", landed a 270 lbs Blue Marlin right in San Jose, not even 10 miles from shore, unfortunately we don't have the name of the angler at this moment.

July 29th, the 28ft panga Salsa, landed a 100lbs Sailfish, 4 rooster fish and 4 jack crevalle for Sam, Grant and Spencer Reyes from Abilene Texas, I must say that Mr. Reyes came to our office looking for a bigger boat to be able to catch a Billfish, however, he decided to go for a panga so the kids could have more fun catching lots of fish, and at the end, he got his marlin and the boys had plenty of fun too, he promised some pictures so we are still waiting for them, keep visiting our Blog for updated pictures.

OTHER SPECIES: A bit slow also for yellow fin tuna and dorado for the same reason, lots of bait available. At the moment, if you are interested in small game more than marlin, please let us know so we can take you to San Jose del Cabo, where we have pangas from 22 to 26ft and can accommodate up to 6 passengers.

LOCATION: Elias Calles on the Pacific side, Destiladeras, Punta Gorda, San Luis on the Sea of Cortez.

BAIT: Live bait for striped marlin, lure for blue marlin and small game. Guacamayo and cedar plugs mostly.

WEATHER: Wind calmed down and the seas were calmed too, early on the week we had some white caps but after that it calmed down.
