This winter weather has brought in some pretty good numbers of winter chinook salmon to our area over the last 10 days. We have had a few really active charters recently! We have been hooking anywhere from 6-12 winter chinook salmon in the 4-12 pound per charter. There has been lots of baitfish in Vancouver harbour and its seems to be holding the feeding chinook quite well. You have to work for keepers still as most fish are in the 20-24 inch range. The most productive area for us has been around the QB marker and in the freighters in the middle of the harbour. The key is to find the bait. Once you find the bait, more often than not you start getting hook-ups. We are running primarily coyote spoons and hootchies now as the fish are extremely active. It is more important to find the bait and the fish rather than worrying about the gear you are running! Productive depths have been from 90-120 feet on the downrigger. We are running our lures behind flashers.
The backside of Bowen has also had a few good days as well!
Give us a call and ask us about our great winter rates!
