Hello again from St.Lucie Sportfishing Charters!
Summer time brings the hot action of the month of June to a slower pace.We headed out this Fourth of July with a ready & able crew of three to make an attempt to bring in some tablefare! We started out by snagging some live sardines over at Bull Shark Reef.It did not seem like the bait fish was feeding so we had to work at it for a little while. But we managed to get an ample supply for the day.
First stop was the Six Mile Reef. Just before arriving at the Six Mile we stopped to spend a little time at a Rip with a slight temperature chanage. No bites this time!Moved on to the Six mile.Started a drift that produced some cuts offs and short strikes.I believe the first Bonito of the day was a clear indication of the day to come.I realized the moon phase was at 93% that morning. The fish bite tends to slow during the day when the moon phase starts to enter the full phase.
At one point a crew member battled with one of the largest if not the largest Atlantic Bonito I have ever place on the deck. This monster weighed in at 19.6 pounds. The average Bonito weighs in at about 12-14 ponuds with an occasional 15 pounder!Great job James! That's my report from St. Lucie Sportfishing Charters,I am Capt.Sal,fish hard, boat safe!So Long!
