This week has been interesting. Dolphin fishing has been very slow. A few small ones here and there but for the most part not much to it. We caught some really nice kingfish this week out in the deep. Our normal range for kingfish is the 80-120' zone off of Ft. Lauderdale but this week they were biting our planer baits from 160'-220' of water. Spoons have been working the best for the bigger kings. Most of them have ranged between 8 and 15 pounds so some decent size ones and good numbers on them too. The bottom fishing has been the most productive for us. On shipwrecks that have been 180-240' we've been catching some humongous vermillion snappers up to 5 pounds a piece. On the same wrecks we've been pulling in alot of 5-10lb. scamp groupers and a few 15-20 lb mutton snapppers.

On the deeper wrecks we've been catching quite a few snowy groupers. Not very many bigger ones but a lot of small-medium sized ones. Still haven't caught any sailfish lately but they should be down soon. I've seen some free jumping sailfish out there which has me convinced they will be here within the next month and probably throughout the whole fall/winter. The mullet run should be happening within the next month or two also, which should bring with it the big game sharks, dolphin, tuna and wahoo. For the past few years they have been here in early-mid October so we'll see. Well, thats all I have to report today. Hopefully I'll see you out there on the water. Until next week.
