We've had some very unusual weather this June so far and both my weekend trips were rescheduled so I was glad to be back on the water with Austin this morning. Conditions were still tough with plenty of wind and limited places to fish in order to target bonefish, tarpon and permit that Austin was looking for. Thankfully it didn't take long for Austin to hook a big tarpon just a few minutes into the trip but unfortunately it got us around a piling and broke us off. We really needed redemption and soon after the rod doubled over and Austin was on to a nice permit. After the pictures and healthy release we were both ecstatic at accomplishing a big part of his goal today. We changed it up as the wind kept increasing and Austin was able to land his 1st snook plus he caught a bunch of jacks including a solid stud jack that gave him a great fight. This was definitely a good day and got some bucket list fish crossed off!
