Had no idea what to expect today after not sailing since last Tuesday. Headed down the beach with the binoculars going, the radar fine tuned, looking for bird life. The fish finder was blank with the exception of a small shot of bait here and there. Got to the rocks (inshore) to start, saw one tiny mark, stopped and caught nothing. Ran offshore a bit and found some better bait life in a tide streak..Jon Devlin caught a short, thought to myself at least we have a pool fish. Ran offshore to some deeper water, caught a couple hering and a small mackrell. Kept in contact with Capt.Bob from the Gambler who looked South, then headed North, with basically the same results I was having.

By 12:30 I was planning on what to do with the rest of my days off for the begining of 2009..Headed back to the west and pulled the last Rabbit of the year outta the hat! Gannets hitting the water, readings 10 to 15 ft thick off the bottom!! Exactly where we had left earlier. Had a good hour bite that produced Rocco's 2 keepers including a beautifull 20pound fish for the pool. Dave also had 2 keepers along with 10 shorts for High hook. 9 nice keeper fish all together. So what I thought would be the swan song turns out to be "Can't wait till tomorrow!" Saturdays weather looks good, but from Sunday on, not so promissing....Saturday looks like it will be it! Hope one of the guys that were out today could post the pic of Roccos fish, as I left the camera home with all the holiday pics!!! Capt.Ron
