CHASE N' TAILS FISHING CHARTERS INSHORE FISHING REPORT.
The weather is fantasic now with calm winds and flat seas makes for a great boating day. The inshore action is on fire the Redfish are chewing very well on live shrimp, cut pinfish, fresh cut mullet, and white bait. Live white bait is candy for the redfish i like to cut the tail off to release some sent and it will keep the bait from swimming out of the strick zone. Use a 3/0 circle hook and a 20lb suffix leader and 10lb power pro is all you need to catch big reds. Look for jumping mullet or nervous water when you find this the reds wont be far behind if not right in the mix of the mullet. On my recent charters this
week we found large schools of redfish around mangroves and oyster bars the redfish are ranging from 25-30 inches.
Trout are tearing up topwater lures in the morning and soft plastic jerk baits by Berkely Gulp in the after noon the trout are 16-25 inches and shrimp with a popping cork is a great rig to use as well. Snook have moved out from the springs and back creeks we are seeing some big snook so i think the snook fishery is going to be fine for the nature coast area the season is still closed until september 1.
A little further offshore the spanish mackerel are cutting off alot of peoples rigs. So to help to prevent this from happening use a long shank hook a 2/0 hook is fine some anglers like to use wire leader but i dont i like to use 20-30lb suffix leader and a long shank hook i land more fish and get more bites doing it this way so give it a try you might like it. Along with the macks are bluefish, bluefish are lure companys best friends so i use jigs or live bait to catch these fish for a jig i like a 1/4oz jighead and a gulp shrimp tied with a loop knot for more life like action. It wont be long and the cobia and tarpon will be here and the redfish action is gona be even hotter so give me a call and book your self a great fishing adventure.
