Chase N' Tails Fishing Charters Inshore Report.
The inshore fishing has been up and down this winter so far, just before we get a cold front
your 2 days after has been the most productive bite. Sheepshead has been the targeted species this week along with redfish. For the sheepshead i have been freelining small shrimp in deeper holes with a 1/0 J hook. Sheepshead are great bait stealers so keeping a tight line will help you feel for the bite, They are ranging from 2-4 lbs along with some black drum mixed in they are up to 5 lbs. On a high out going tide i like to target the redfish in skinny water about 10-18 inches the reds have been laying in the muddy bottom to get warmth look around the near by springs for warmer water and keep an eye out for jumping mullet or nervous water the reds have been right in the mix of them. Use live jumbo shrimp with the tail pinched off for some sent with a 2-3/0 circle hook and a 20lb Suffix learder the reds are 21-30 inches. Using Breaded lines such as Power Pro you will get further distance in your cast and you can feel the fish biteing much easer then mono. I use 10lb Power Pro on all my light tackel reels anything bigger to me is just over kill, 10lb braid has a breaking of 18lbs pulling a fat red out of the mangroves is no problem. Iam looking forwerd to Spring for the warm air and HOT FISHING ACTION.
Tight lines
