CRAPPIE/YELLOW BASS: When winds are light-to-moderate, crappie anglers are having decent trips at The Coop (Chicken Coop), according to long time crappie guide, Noe Garcia. It hasn't gotten red hot yet but morning trips are yielding 20-30 crappie plus several catfish, yellowbass and an occasional largemouth bass.
Garcia reports that he has been targeting 28-32 feet depths fishing vertical with live shiners. For those new to the area, The Chicken Coop is a famous winter fishing hole for crappie and is located on the Texas side above Pendleton Bridge just north of Patroon Creek (Bayou). Last year was very disappointing, maybe they will show this year.
