Kirk Weber

We've finally gotten our long awaited cooler spell and with it I've noticed an increase in shallow water fish activity.

CRAPPIE

I've Crappie fished a couple times this past week and caught some real nice sized fish. The bite is mostly slow, but good in short bursts. Fish brush 10' to 20' deep with jigs and minnows.

BASS

I've caught bass at the surface and 25 ft deep. Poppers, walking baits, and small worms are producing bass when fished just outside of the visible grass line on secondary points and on the main lake. The deeper bass have been larger, but only a couple here and a couple there. 10" worms, jigs, and large crank baits fished 10' to 20' deep, especially around stumps, have been productive.

CATFISH

The Blue Cats are in the main river channel and schooled up. If you can get a little current, you can catch a bunch! Fish large minnows, night crawlers, or shrimp 40' to 65' deep.

WHITE BASS

Main lake ridges 15' to 25' deep are still producing whites and gobs of Yellow Bass. Fish inline spinners and ½ oz jigging spoons for good action.

See ya on the water!

Capt Kirk, out!
