Fishing Fort Lauderdale on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

David and Jill Dickson from Pennsylvania were vacationing here in Fort Lauderdale and decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Wind conditions were variable with the sun playing peek-a-boo.

We are fortunate to have our drop off so close to shore. Less than 2 miles from shore you will find yourself in 120 ft. of water which sits off the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale. We stopped to pick up some Goggle Eyes from T&T Bait in the hope that winds would pick up to fly the kite. David was hoping to hook up with a Sailfish

We started out trolling the reefs with four surface baits – two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips - and two #8 plainers. As we trolled the reefs, David and Jill took turns bringing in their catches. The wind increased slightly so we put up the ultra light kites on 20 lbs, but the wind did not last long so we pulled the live Goggle Eyes from the riggers and put out a Ballyhoo dredge. No black shadows appeared but one nice 23 lb. Kingfish was produced from the live bait. We caught a total of 5 Kingfish, four Barracudas and four Bonitos.

Here in South Florida our homes, cars, and work places have the comforts of AC. To have AC on the boat is a necessity not a luxury for our guests. From being out in the cockpit and baking in the sun, our anglers, David and Jill, enjoyed and relaxed in our ac salon on the ride back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
