Fishing Fort Lauderdale with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Janis Hansen and her children, Ava, age 10, and Roman, age 8, along with her mom, Jill Hansen, all from Wisconsin, chartered the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Winds were out of the west at 7 mph, seas running 2-3 ft., temperatures in the mid 80's with blue skies.

As the Hansen's group was greeted by the Topshotfishing team while boarding the boat, Roman was asking questions with an enthusiasm that was contagious – when, how, where, what kind etc. etc. etc.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the Bahia Mar marina lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two plainers down and three surface baits. I worked the reefs ranging from 75 ft. out to 190 ft. of water, zig zagging in and out over the reefs. Our first fish was a Bonito that Roman brought in followed by a Kingfish brought in by Ava. From there the two took turns reeling in the fish, totaling one Bonito and 6 Kingfish while Janis was the official photograph and Jill was the cheerleader!!! The last fish that was brought in was a good size Kingfish weighing 14 lbs, which Ava and Roman took turns reeling it in.

It was time to head back to the Bahia Mar Dock, located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. The family enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock in the a/c salon. Their enthusiasm was just as high at the end of the trip as it was at the start – great kids – our next generation of fishing anglers.
