Fishing reports are looking pretty good with limits of smaller fish being caught. Most of the fishing has happening on the US side of the Detroit River with many anglers fishing the FLW walleye events.
This past wknd seen the FLW walleye league anglers hit the river and next week April 11-14 the FLW walleye tour will be visiting.
I made a milk run on my first trip catching walleyes or seeing walleyes caught from the Ren Cen to the Trenton channel. Many were jigging, using chartruese jigs tipped with a minnow.
North and east winds have muddied the Cnd side of the river but a few boats were fishing the Sturgeon Hole at the front of Peche Island.
Water temps were 41-43 degrees and the fish were somewhat active. I did manage 1 walleye the was over 6# but the others were good eaters 18". As my buddy Capt. Bill calls them "water chicken"
After cruising 45 miles on the river I was glad to see NO dead muskies floating. Hopefully the big die off caused by the VHS virus will not have a major effect on the muskies as it did last yr.
