Well after being landlocked for almost a month due to strong winds and high seas i was able to get out with Mr Rey Rivera, Willy Ramirez, and Al Tubella from Homestead. Fishing reports from previous days had us all exited with angler catching fish up to 30 lbs. We where greeted by seas less than 2 feet and overcast skies which protected us from the summer heat. We managed to fish inside 600 feet where plenty of Sargaso and debri greeted our eyes. In no time we where hooked up with a nice 20 lb cow and the bull came right up to the transom where he took a dead ballyhoo as our offering. We ended the day with 5 nice schoolies and 2 nice fish up to 25 lbs. Numerous other fish where lost to operator error. Also plenty of smaller fish where released to fight another day. Keep in mind that Dolphin (aka Mahi-Mahi) have a short life span of 5 years and a fish that may be 20 inches will get bigger in very little time. On the reefs Yellowtail Snapper are being caught in good numbers at night. The Mangrove Snapper should start their yearly migration to the deeper reefs to span and should start to bite any night now. We will be doing more and more of these night trips in the months to come.
