Vancouver Report:

The temps have been cooler than normal so not out as many times as usual but the days we have been out have been quite good. Been working the South side of Bowen Island from the White House to about 4 miles South with not bad results. Seeing Chinook to 14 pounds and lots of 20" sized fish to keep you busy. Spoons like the Cop Car and Green and White glow are working best with Anchovy (5.25") trolled behind a flasher also working. Depths have been 80 feet down to about 110 feet. The seals have not been a real problem over the past week but give it time as the Harbour slows down and they move out in the Strait. We have had a few really nice water days and a couple of 3' days but both conditions are producing fish. Crabbing in the Harbour is EXCELLENT !!! Try the traditional areas like Spanish Banks and the mile markers for good results. Chicken has always worked best for us in about 70 feet of water.

Don't have any reports on Howe Sound as we have not followed it and I believe everyone is starting to transition to the outside waters. The West side of Bowen and Tunstall Bay are still a good bet when the Easterly or Westerly winds keep you from the outside waters. Last year we have many good days in Tunstall in later April to early May. The East side of Bowen (Seymour Bay) is also a good spot to try when the winds are up.

Have not seen the plankton blooms yet but it's only a couple of weeks away at the most. This usually tells us the Winter fishery is done and it's time to expect returning fish to our waters following the herring in the Strait.

Thrasher has seen some good and many bad days recently so we won't be targeting this area for a month or so. I know a couple of the local fisherman out of Silva Bay have done well fishing the Grande to Whale Bone with spoons close to the bottom.

The phone is really starting to ring now that the crappy Winter weather is behind us and people want to get out and find some Spring Chinook action. If you are interested in going fishing drop by our new dock location (we moved about 50 feet!) at the Westin Bayshore Hotel beside the LIFT Bar and Grill or give us a call.

Good luck and tight lines.
