Bon Chovy Fishing Report, Oct 12, 2007
Fishing recently has been quite challenging so far this October! Typically, early to mid October is one of the most consistent periods for mature chinook in the 15-25 pound range. So far this month there has only been a couple of reasonable days. This past week we have had to work really hard for 2 or 3 hook ups per charter.
The fish we have hooked this week have been right off the bottom in 85-110 feet of water off the Capilano Mouth and Ambelside. Anchovies and herring have been equally productive. Fish should continue to push in hopefully in better numbers for the next couple weeks. With a lot of runs being late this year, the Capilano run could follow suit.
On a positive note, we landed a couple 3-5 pound winter chinook this week. The winter chinook fishery should start to get going in another month or so. The winter fishery is one of the most consistent and under-rated fisheries in Vancouver.
Call us to book a fall or winter chinook charter!!!!!
Good luck
