The Lehigh River is fishing well this time of year. Flows are at a wadable level and temperatures are still well within comfortable limits for trout. As of yet small mouth have not begun to out number the trout, but that will change shortly. On a recent trip between Jim Thorpe and Parryville with two clients I observed not much insect activity with the exception of a few Slate Drakes and sporadic Tan Caddis. Look for slate drakes in 10-12 in the next few weeks. On the 6 mile drift, we did find many trout scatter through out the holding water and flats between holes. Float fishing with centerpins using 3inch pink worms, waxies, nightcrawlers and jigs. The pink worms yield the bulk of the catch. Both anglers caught many fish through out the day with each lading rainbows over 20 inches.
