The Pequest River is suffering from low water conditions making many of the fish move from shallow hole to moving water to seek cover and feeding lanes. Early Hendrickson hatches have been sporadic but fairly heavy at times, however most of the action has been subsurface. Flymphs, and leadwing coachman have been producing many fish as they seem to be keying in on drowned and emerging Hendrickson instead of the dries.
Swinging wets on small sink tips have been top producers and provide a whole lot of fun waiting to the strike. Nymphs fished under an indicator on 7.5-9ft 4x leaders, with 5x droppers have been effective in locating holding slots and fish.
