SCALLOP SEASON STARTS EARLY..

Gov. Charlie Christ has announced that the 2010 florida bay scallops season will start 12 days early the season will start on JUNE 19 th and will go through till September 10 th. The rules and regulations still are in effect and that is the boundaries areas are from the Pasco/Hernando line witch is Aripeka to Mexico Beach Canal in Bay County. And it is 2 gallons of meat per person per day in open season and no more than 10 gallons per boat per day that is in shell only and if you clean your scallops on the water it is 1 pint of meat per person or 1 gallon of meat per boat per day. Make sure you are flying the divers-down flag that is red with a white diagonal stripe. All you need is a mask, snorkel, fins, and a mesh bag to put your catch in. Target depths of 4-8 feet on mix bottom I like the short grass with sand holes and rocks around I tend to do best in these areas. So book your trip early and lets go get some scallops..
