The water has finally chilled down to winter water conditions on the north Mosquito Lagoon. Redfish are schooling, and getting more active as the morning gets later with some warming sunshine, this is the usual early winter pattern as the Reds and Seatrout are still getting used to the cold water temperatures after a year of nice warm Florida saltwater. On a recent charter fishing trip with regular clients Bob and Kelly from Ontario Canada, we caught 6 Redfish with the largest being the 29" over slot Redfish which Kelly is holding in the picture before it's release. A couple of days later on a scouting trip with fellow guide Capt. Justin Price, we caught a dozen or so Reds and several Seatrout including the attractive 27" Redfish with 12 spots that I am holding before release in the picture below.
I offer Mosquito Lagoon Flats Fishing trips for Redfish and Seatrout, for the novice or experienced angler alike. I also offer Indian River Backcountry Fishing trips, that is mixed bag fishing for Seatrout, Redfish, Black Drum, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, and more. On the average Backcountry trip we catch between 10 and 15 (or more) different species of saltwater fish. This type of trip can be extremely entertaining for beginners or experienced anglers. My boat accommodates from 1 to 4 anglers. Located close to DAYTONA BEACH, NEW SMYRNA BEACH and ORLANDO. Feel free to contact me at any time with questions you may have about my fishing charters.
