This morning we started out our day fishing with Mark, Martin, Stan and Luke all from Chicago Illinois.

We motored out to 150 feet of water and set out both kites with 2 live baits suspended from each kite and the trap was set.

After a good 30 min of waiting without a bite when all of a sudden this big sailfish popped up and darted after our left long kite bait.

It only took a matter of seconds and we were Hooked Up.

Martin jumped in the chair and the fight was on. This was Martin's first shot at a big fish like this but he was up for the challenge. There was going to be nothing easy about this fight! At first the sail was dancing all over the surface putting on this great show for us but then he just headed down and kept digging down deep.

It seemed Martin would gain 10 feet then the fish would take 20 it was a back and forth tug a war for well over 30 min but Martin hung in there and soon enough Martin got his first monster sail to the boat.

WHY TO GO MARTIN

After getting a Measurement of Martin's sailfish and a couple of quick photos back out went the baits and once again the trap was set.

Soon afterwards Mark caught a nice king fish followed up by Stan also boating a kingfish.

Guy's thanks again for a fun morning of deep-sea fishing aboard the Hooked Up off the coast of Fort Lauderdale.

As we pulled back to the dock we had our afternoon trip eager to give their luck a shot @ some deep-sea fishing.

We had Paul, Michelle, Daniel, Steven, Stephanie and David all from Philadelphia.

Ok this afternoon it was not big fish that we were after it was just action and hopefully some good eating fish.

So we went trolling down the reef with 2 planner boards running about 45 feet deep along with 3 baits skipping across the surface.

The good news was that the kingfish were biting about as well as I have ever seen them bite and we had our limit before I knew it.

The bad news was that we never did find any dolphin fish or any other kind of good eating fish.

While kingfish may be an edible fish they are quite oily and if you don't like the taste of strong fish then you properly won't like king fish witch was the case with our group from Philly.

All the same we had a ball and once again I would like to thank all of our anglers today for fishing aboard the Hooked Up.

Today we had a shred charter with Eddie and his wife Ellen from Alabama and Frank and his 2 sons witch we never did get their names. Sorry about that guys.

We went right to kite fishing in 150 feet of water with 4 live baits suspended from the kites.

After a good hour with not so much as a nibble I decided to work my way out to deeper water.

Once I had worked our way out to about 350 of water J.J. set out a shark bait on the bottom along with another shark bait just drifting behind us.

After another long 45 min of waiting just as we were about to bring in all the baits and switch to trolling Captain J.J. yelled from the cockpit to keep an eye on the deep line!! No sooner did the words get out of J.J. mouth the deep rod bent over and line was screaming off the reel.

Eddie jumped in the chair and the fight was on.

At first there was no stopping this fish but after about 10 min the fish settled down and Eddie started to gain some line on this SEA MONSTER.

Than out of nowhere up popped this hammerhead shark after one of our kite baits. Then BAM we were Hooked Up again now we had Eddie fighting his fish and one of Frank's son's fighting this hammerhead shark on 30-pound test line. Talk about getting covered up!!!

They say that fishing is hours of boredom interrupted by moments of panic and chaos. Well this is the perfect example.

While this hammerhead was still taking line Eddie was getting his fish closer and closer to the boat. Once Eddie's fish was close enough we slid him in the tuna door got a few quick photos and a measurement of his shark and watched him swim away in good shape.

Ok one down and one to go. We fought this hammerhead for another 20 min but I'm sorry to say that he did finally bite through the leader and got away. (RATS)

While we did not have a lot of action during the whole trip we sure got a lot in a very short period.

Guys thanks again for your patience and for hanging in there aboard the Hooked Up

Today we had a shard charter with a regular customer/friend Rob and his son Jack from Ft Lauderdale along with Anton and his friend from New York.

I am sorry to say that today was just one of those days that fishing was just plain old slow.

However we did manage to catch a few king fish while trolling the reef with our planners.

I've also got to say as the sating goes the ocean was angry today but much to my surprise everyone hung in there and everyone had a good time all the same.

Anton I am looking forward to making it up to you on the 9th and Rob thanks again and next time we'll catch more than enough.
