Those dog days of summer are upon us.
With water temperatures in the upper 80's
& the freshwater from summer storms pouring
in to our rivers, the fishing can be little
challenging.
Early morning and evening tidal flow has proved
to be the ticket, when it comes to a successful
day of fishing. Look for deeper water adjacent to
rocks, oyster bars and creek mouths. Fish areas
slowly and thoroughly.
We had a good half day of fishing the docks and
stucture around Old Port Tampa. Although, we were
unable to get the Jew Fish to chew, we did have
sucess landing mangrove snapper, snook, red fish,
and trout! All fish were caught on frozen shrimp
an a 1/8oz. jig. The only exception was the
snapper preferred small live white bait on a 1/0
EUPRO j-hook with 20lb EUPRO fluorocarbon leader.
The Port with its deep channels, commerical
shipping docks, and scattered patches of
mangroves can be a great place to fish. So, get
out there or give me a holler and I'll show you
how!
Till next time have a safe & quality day on the
water! Capt. Sean Hagen "Fishing Like A Pro" with
