The seas have definitely been something to deal with here as of late with 2-3' one day and the next day at 4-6'. Smokin Em Charters has still been making it offshore and bringing in fantastic catches of Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo, King Mackerel and Dolphin. Trolling ballyhoo and bubble jet lures from 80-230' of water SE of Ft. Pierce Inlet has produced fantastic catches of Blackfin Tuna. Most fish are in the 2-10 pound range, however pound for pound fight like nothing else swimming out there. Bridling some of the smaller Tuna and putting them down deep on either a downrigger or a trolling lead has been producing some really nice catches of Wahoo. Most of these fish are in the 30-50 pound range. Dolphin are definitely hit or miss right now however some fish up to 30 pounds have been brought to the dock. King Mackerel are hitting live mullet and Blue Runners as well as Drone Spoons. To much suprise on a charter fished on Friday Oct. 17th, fishing across one of the inshore bars a very large King Mackerel of approx. 60 pounds almost sky rocketed into the cockpit of Smokin Em. Clients got to see at close look of exactly what these fish are capable of, wish we had gotten a camera shot of it.
Smokin Em has plenty of openings for the end of Oct. as well as into Nov. to start kicking off the fall Dolphin run as well as catching early Sails in preperation for our Winter Sailfish. Feel free to call at 772-323-1827 or check out our website at www.florida-fishingcharters.com.
