Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/30/07
This past week on Lake Guntersville has brought back the good old days. The weather cooled a little, there was some wind and storms around most of the week and the fish responded like they should in early fall. The fish hit several different baits from a "rat" to a big worm and were just ripping Punisher's Flame Spinner Bait, in watermelon color. All it took was a little wind and you could catch fish all day long.
The lake is full of baitfish and they are moving and causing the bass to move with them and feed extremely well. I have had just excellent days on the water this week catching 12 to 15 bass a day and all seem to be in the 3 to 5 pound range. I had one day that we had a 5-catch bag of about 19 pounds and the fish were just knocking the spinner bait with a vengeance.
Most of the week I fished from the park to BB Comer Bridge in 3 to 14 feet of water looking for grass breaks, humps and ledges. It was truly a week to remember on the lake.
With the fall right around the corner, there will be some great days this fall; the lake should be at its best shortly before the winter sets in. Come fish the Grass with Me!
