Hello everyone! Sorry for the lack of reports over the summer. I have been in Colorado fly fishing. What a treat! I am now back home (Lake LBJ) and have been on the lake just about every day. October means shorter days, cooler temperatures, less crowded lakes and feeding fish. The water temperature is beginning to drop and the bait fish are at the height of their growing season. For bass fishermen, (and most species for that matter) this means the fish are chasing bait fish and fatting up for the winter. Because of this, many bass fisherman will find that the bass will be more scattered than in the summer months. Use buzz baits and jerk baits in the morning and evening over submerged vegetation off of points and over humps. During mid day, make your way back up the bays, inlets and creeks that connect to deep water. A small white crank bait or white spinner bait will produce well. Try a rattle trap over vegetation in larger open bays. Don't forget to hit the docks with a wacky worm or Texas rigged baby brush hog as well as these are great ambush spots for bass waiting on schooling bait fish.
It is absolutely beautiful this time of year on any of the Texas Highland Lakes. To book a fun filled fishing trip on Lake LBJ, please visit my web site at www.lakelbjfishing.com
