FALL FISHING REPORT FOR HERNANDO BEACH

Well it is nice and cool outside, this past week was WINDY out on the water making for bad boating conditions but now it is BEAUTIFUL, the water temp has droped down into the low 70s making the bite action to really pick up i was

able to get out on the boat yesterday and the TROUT bite is still going strong they are ranging from 17-26"in 1-3 feet of water and we are doing well on topwaters like RAPALA SKITTER WALKS in the morning and BERKLY GULP jerk baits in the white color in the afternoon. The REDFISH are biting great to topwaters in the morning are a good way to start the day nothing beats a red hitting a topwater. The reds are ranging from 22-30" and they are also feeding good on live white bait, pinfish, cut mullet, and large shrimp. We are on are new moon now so we got strong tides and

negative LOW tides so be aware of where you are at because you can be beached prettyquick.Grouper has moved into the shallows iam talking 6-10 feet on rocks, and ledges ther are grouper being caught up to 12lbs in these shallow waters the way i like to grouper fish is start off with dead bait to get some stink down there it wont take long to

get hit if there down ther so be ready once you use a few dead bait switch to a live hand size pinfish the big dogs will tear it up.Ill tell you another tip bring some squid with you and catch some grunts i have caught some of my biggest gag grouper on grunt heads, and butter fly grunts make sure you got a stiff rod with good back bone 50-60lb main line and a 80lb leader and a 6-8 odd circle hook in the shallow water i will use either no weight at all and just let it fall down slowly or ill put on a 2-3oz egg sinker depinding on the current. The fishing is AWESOME right now "SO BOOK A TRIP WITH CAPT.JOSH"and you will have a great time on the water.
