Oct has brought a break in the warm weather. Unfortunately we are still suffering from low water conditions. The trout have be more active as a of late and the augmentation trout from fall stockings has made fishing excellent.
Jigs trotted through heavier waters have resulted in crushing strikes from eager fish. Single eggs, flies and wax worms have been taking many fish in the slower pools. Light line and 2-3 gram floats have been the key to catching the pressured fish in the parks area.
Downstream of East Stroudsburg fishing has been heating up also. The gorge has seen a fair numbers of Rainbows moving up and out of the Delaware River system looking for spawning gravel. The section from the confluence of the Brodhead and the McMicheals downstream to the top of the gorge has traditionally been a good place to find these fish before they spread through out the system. Look for rains to bring more of these fish into the stream. Most fish are 10-12 inches, however a few 12-18 inch fish will be mixed in.
