What an awesome morning of fishing last Sunday (June 1st)with a couple of great guys, Pat and Ron Cunico from the Chicago area. We started out trolling bottom bouncers and Walleyes Choice harnesses at the north end, and before we could get all the lines in the water we had a fish sink a board. Unfortunately we lost that one, but over the next hour and a half it was pretty much non-stop action. The guys had their limit by 8:30 a.m. and then we just did some upgrading, experimenting, and tried to figure out the larger fish we were marking up higher in the water column. We caught fish up high, on the bottom, and everywhere in between. We released some 15 and 16 inch fish and several undersized fish as well. Biggest thing was keeping our speed at .8 to 1.0 mph. Any faster and we didn't get bit. At just after 10 a.m. we decided to go try for some bigger fish down south and all we could get was one decent northern trolling crankbaits. Here's a picture of today's fish...I ended up keeping two small ones for myself, should make a nice breakfast for the kids and I tomorrow morning. It seems that the fishing is improving daily, and should continue to get better as long as the water keeps getting warmer. Good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
