For the past few days the fishing has been good. There has been plenty of big tarpon on the ocean side of the keys. Saturday we had numerous shots at fish rolling, running in pods north and south and fish daisy chaining. There is nothing like watching a tarpon in 5-8ft of water gulp a fly in crystal clear water! The fish have already seen some pressure so scaling down your bite shock will improve your chances to get connected. We have also had some good shots at bonefish from south biscayne bay down to the keys. Today I took my dad out for fathers day for an early morning bonefish trip. After a few missed shots a well presented live shrimp was hard to refuse and the race was on. After some line rooster tailin runs we had my dad's first bonefish. He was as happy as can be since bonefish had kind of been his nemesis, that was now something of the past. I was happy to have put him on his first bonefish and get him out on the water and enjoy a bit of what I call paradise.
This is the time of year to get out on the water and take advantage of the excellent weather and fishing that south florida has to offer. Whether its redfish, snook, tarpon, trout, bonefish and permit this is the time to get out there and catch them up!
