With the storm now out of the way Smokin Em fished offshore on Saturday the 23rd of August finding significant temperature changes, rips, and floating debris. Temps ranged from 76 to the warmest being 79 degrees on the surface. With this being said, we knew we were in for a good day of fishing as we started setting out the lines. We were only able to get 4 of our 8 lines out when the first reel screamed with one of the biggest Bonito we have seen. After getting back on the hunt we worked our way Eastward towards the deeper water and found all the conditions of a perfect fishing day. We ended the day with 1 Bonito, 1 Sailfish hook up, 2 Kingfish and 1 mystery fish that spooled a 9500 Spinner. Best part was all this action occurred on just a 1/2 day charter. being after the storm we spoke with the headboat out of Ft. Pierce and he advised of a fantastic bite on the bottom in 80' of water with Sea Bass, Bee Liners, Triggers and loosing a monster Grouper.
Inshore action should improve this week especially if we receive no more rain and winds remain minimal. Snook season opens the 1st of September and we are looking forward to getting out there and polling the flats and getting hooked up on some of these great eating fish. Trout and Snapper action will improve with the water clarity as well as Redfish becoming hungry for the Fall forage.
We have plenty of openings for both Inshore and Offshore, whether it be trolling offshore for Kings, Sails, Dolphin or Inshore for the Snook Season opening. Check us out at www.florida-fishingcharters.com
