Early spring patterns are arriving to Mosquito Lagoon with water temperatures rising from the lows of winter of mid 50's F now up to high 60's F, starting the spring miogration of game and bait fish back to the north after they spent the winter in south Florida. Bluefish, Jack Crevalle, Ladyfish, Pompano, and others are starting to be caught , joining our resident fish species Seatrout, Snook, Redfish, Black Drum, Snapper, Sheepshead .With the clear water from winter still here, the sight fishing on the flats is a fun challenging hunt for Reds and Trout, find the schools, and get a bit or lure in the right spot for a strike. Back water mixed bag fishing is prime in spring, recent trips have been lots of fun with good catching, most trips with mini slams of Seatrout, Reds, and Snooklets, , quite a few Black Drum, and catching the first Jack Crevalle and Ladyfish of the warming season. First time clients from Miami and Seattle out l;ast week had a great fun time, catching lots of different back water species on our light spinning tackle, pedro got the biggest a nice Black Drum.............
Not to be out done Doug shows off his best Black Drum of the many landed this morning...............
Pedro also got a veryt nice Spotted Seatrout on a free lined live shrimp.............
Young Lucas and family from Canada had a fun time out on a backcountry catching trip, including a nice Redfish..........
It has been a good season so far for Black Drum, they have been widespread through out the area, from cute little small ones up to good size hard fighting bigger ones.........
