green machine and hooked a 28 pound hen that went zooming out into his backing. Not long in the day did the Master of the Sugarman Shrimp Fly that late last fall got a 42 pound salmon, Hooked a 26 pound Bright Silver Hen, Also fishing with a Spey rod and took him many times into the backing. These guys had a wonderful day and I hope they do as well or better tomorrow. Also there were no fish showing when they hooked into all of these fish.
There were also some reports of fish showing lower down stream today aswell.
The water condition here on the Main SW Miramichi is just about perfect level and with the temp being around the 65 degree F makes it very good for fishing bombers. There were reports of fish being released from the Gaspereau nets today aswell in Miramichi City.
As for the NW Miramichi the water level is getting very low and really needs a good rain to bring it back up. I have no reports of any fish from there to give you.
Also there is still lots of Shad around and we are in the prime time to get into hooking them. For you guys or gals that want to hook fish and have some fun give it a try, They put up a really good fight. Some fisherman are still getting some trout in the 1 to 2 pound range which I don't like to say where ! Yet.
I also took a tour of the MSA fish hatchery today and I do say that the Manager Mark Hambrook and staff have a great operation. They had trout and huge Salmon 12 to 14 pound. I encourage anyone that has not seen this fine hatchery to take your kids and friends on the tour. They also can catch some trout while there.
All for tonight.
Bye for now,
Rodney Colford
