Had my first official charter of the year Friday the 21st. I had a wonderful group of folks from Chatham county. It started out a little rough in the am but calmed down in the afternoon. Fishing is still slow from all this wind and the dirty water. Did not sound like other boats were doing too much as well. Water temp was a constant 70.3 degrees and there was no current to speak of. Started fishing around the 500 line in 240 feet of water. As we were putting the line down on the planner a big wahoo hit the bait. Donnie who is in the 7th grade had the first fish. He fought the fish about 15 minutes and he was one excited young man when that wahoo came over the gunnel. We had him weighed and he weighed 44 lbs so Donnie will receive a citation for his catch. Seeing a young man catch a fish like that makes this business very rewarding. After that we waited a long time for the next fish which was a 15-20lb yellowfin. It was good to finally see a tuna. We had a bite off and two real strong knock downs but that was it for the day. As I said it was slow but we had some happy folks with some nice fish for the grill.
