The last two day have been pretty good. On Wednesday we didn't catch a lot of fish but the ones we caught were the right ones. Best five fish limit weight I have had in a while. They went 30 to 32 lbs. Just guessing. But we had 2 at 7 and 3 fives so it's a pretty good guess. We had 10 over the 4 pound mark. All fish came on a jig. My clients didn't want their pictures all over the web so I held up a few. There were also a couple that we caught when some boats were close by that we didn't hold up for pictures. Any way there are a lot of fish schooling out there. Some of the schools I have seen the last few days were 50 yard circles. A lot of the fish are 1 to 3 pounds but every now and then the right ones will come up and they are the 3 to 5 pound fish.
Today was a short day. We only got out for 3 hours or so and was mainly covering some areas quick just so they would have a little milk run of spots. Got bit everywhere we stopped. Caught about 20 and had a few 4 pounders in the mix.
This keeps up and the crankbait bite really turn back on. Right now spooks, flukes, big worms, jigs, and spoons are working well and will continue to work the next month or so. The water temp is hot just like the weather. Its in the upper 80's. If I remember right I don't think it got above about 82 last year. That warm of water will really help the grass come back.
Also I am not trying to put anyone out but people research your guides. There are some people that I have talked to that haven't lived here for 6 months and fish the lake a couple times a week that say they are going to start a guide service up.You make the call. you know the names that have been around for a while. There are also one or two that have hired me with in the last few years who are trying to do it. Go figure.
