The fishing in Ft Lauderdale is heating up this week as the kingfish bite gets pretty good. Kingfish are once again the dominant presence on the Ft Lauderdale reefs. We're catching them pretty good by trolling lures and rigged baits, but the best bite and nicest fish are always caught on live baits. Slow trolling live baits is very effective for kingfish and just about everything that lives on the reef. This technique of fishing is good for catching kingfish, bonito, blackfin tuna, mahi-mahi and barracuda... basically anything on the reef.

Wreck fishing is also very good this week. Amberjacks and almaco jacks are all over the wrecks. They always bite good this time of year and they congregate in mass numbers around our local shipwrecks. Jacks are very aggressive and if they are there at the spot you're fishing, they won't leave a bait sitting there long without eating it. You don't have to fish long to get a bite. Good action all over in 100-350ft of water this week in Ft Lauderdale. Let's go fishing!
