Fishing report for the week ending 3/14/2010
Fishing and the weather is warming up, although I will be glad to see the wind drop just a bit. Early in the week had water temps still in the upper fifties and at times you could tell the fish just did not have there hearts into eating.
Tuesday on a overcast day fishing with Bill Krein we were able to catch some nice slot trout casting mirrolures around oysterbars in San Carlos Bay. We were also able to catch a good number of schooling size trout and a few slot fish casting white redfish magic in 3-6 ft. of water with a patchy grass bottom.
Thursday fishing with Jim Burkhardt on one of the warmest and breeziest days we have seen we caught schooling size trout and ladyfish in potholes in south pine island sound with mirrolures and later in the day some great 3 and 4 lb. Trout on topwater skitter walks.
I have learned that when the weatherman says breezy it means windy, this day got so windy that by 11am. We could no longer fish the top water plugs. The wind had pushed the tide up so we decided to fish a few oysterbars for reds, the first stop produced one quickly but it became evident that the wind had turned the water into a milky grassy mess. One more stop on the way in the Ding darling refuge gave up a few more trout on a good fishing but very windy day.
Tight lines its Spring get out and fish!
The beginning of this week looks good with water temps in the 60"s and lots of sunshine the fishing should be good this week..
