Freshies Suggestion
Fishing around the old brush pile!
It has been brought to my attention that especially during these "Hot Times" that brush fishing should be considered! Giving a little thought to the reason behind why this structure is so popular with fish gives you more reason for fishing it. I would have to say, "due to the fact that fish of all sizes can get inside of it to not only to feed, but to feel protected!" You know the old saying, "where you have fish you have fish!" The boils down to anything that attracts fish of all sizes there is potential catching action to be had. I think that you get my point.
The best depth according to my sources is going to be around 20 to 30 feet. So therefore rule out other depths and go straight to these areas, because apparently all fish are doing it. The "old plastic worm" is considered the best bait to use. However, if you aren't an accomplished "worm at the end of the line worker" I suggest going with some sort of live bait. For those that go with the plastic worm you already know what to do, which is to work it like the real thing! Slow to go! When using live bait I suggest going with a bottom rig that will allow your live bait a bit of swimming freedom. Baits that swim are going to get the attentions of larger fish lurking in the area. It's just a known fact that fish know! You best bet is to drop your bait to the bottom, retrieve it up a couple of turns, and get ready for some bite action. Once you know you have interest it going to be up to you wait until it time to set the hook. When it comes to setting the hook I suggest thinking like the fish first and a fisherman second! In other words, give them time to eat!
