Fort Lauderdale Fishing with Topshotfishing and Capt. Zsak

Bobby Gaege, Dustin McDowell and Cory Lyons from Texas were in town for a convention representing their company, BAM's Complete A/V – www.bamscompleteav.com and decided to charter the Topshotfishing team to do some deep sea big game sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale. As the group were welcomed aboard by the Topshotfishing team in Fort Lauderdale, the question arose as to what type of fish they were interested in catching and their response was to catch Sailfish, if possible.

On the way out we stopped at T&T Bait to purchase some live Goggle Eyes to be used later on in the charter. Fifteen minutes from there, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started off trolling with two #8 plainers down – one with a 3 ½ blue reflector drone spoon and the other with a sea witch with a double hooked Bonito strip. For surface baits, we went with two Ballyhoos and two Bonito strips.

I trolled to the north of Fort Lauderdale while the anglers took turns bringing in their catch which was a total of 3 Kingfish and 2 Bonitos. It was now time to set up the kites for live bait fishing close to one of our artificial wrecks located in 200 ft. of water. We set out two kites with two live Goggle Eyes from each kite. While waiting for the black shadow to make its appearance, the anglers discussed the business that took place at the conference. Right Long – Sailfish!!!! The bill and dorsal of the Sailfish was out of the water while he frantically chased the live Goggle Eyes until he captured it. Hooked up!!!! The Sailfish immediately came out of the water showing off his spectacular colors and power and tail-walked away from the boat. Dustin was our angler, and he jumped into the fighting chair to play tug of water. Twenty minutes later, our mate, Dave, wired the Sailfish and brought him to the side of the boat for picture taking and was released to fight again. Congratulations, Dustin!!!!

It was now time to head back to the dock at Bahia Bar located at 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316. The anglers retired into the a/c salon and enjoyed the relaxing trip back to the dock.
