Fort Lauderdale Fishing on Happy Day Today with Capt. Zsak

Phil Brown and Scott blank and clients from different parts on the East Coast chartered the Happy Day Today along with the Topshotfishing team out of Fort Lauderdale FL to do some deep sea sport fishing. We had blue skies, winds out of the east, southeast at 10-15 miles an hour, blue waters pushed in on the 2nd reef.

Large schools of migrating Mullets heading south along the coast of Fort Lauderdale FL have been seen from off the shore out to 300 feet. Close to shore Snooks, Tarpons and Sharks have been feeding on the Mullets. There was an incident off of Fort Pierce this week that a surfer got attacked by a Shark. Luckily, he did not lose his leg, and is in good shape.

We left the dock and twenty minutes later lines were in the water on the drop off that is 120 ft. deep at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale FL. We started off trolling with two plainers and 5 surface baits, in and out across the drop off from 80 to 250 feet. Everyone had a good time taking turns catching Kingfish, Bonitos, and Black Fin Tunas. From there we decided to do some Shark fishing – we headed out to 350 ft. of water and sent out our Shark baits, one surface bait, one midrange bait and one bait on the bottom. Twenty minutes into Shark fishing, our bottom bait got a strike. The line pealed off of our 80 International Reel – I knew it was a good fish from the speed of the line pealing off of the reel. Forty-five minutes later, the Shark surfaced, and I could see it was a Hammerhead Shark. As Phil brought the Shark closer to the boat, pictures were taken and Jackson, our mate, wired the fish to the side of the boat. After measuring the Shark, which was 107 inches long, we released the Shark to fight again. Phil decided to make a replica mount of this great Shark.

With time running out, it was time to head back to the dock at Bahia Mar 801 Seabreeze Blvd. Fort Lauderdale 33316.
