Bob and Tanya Durham from Detroit chartered the Top Shot Sportfishing charter boat team to do some deep sea charter boat sport fishing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. The Durhams were down in Fort Lauderdale on vacation and had just gotten off a cruise ship to go fishing with us.

Fifteen minutes after leaving the dock, lines were in 120 ft. of water at the sea buoy in Fort Lauderdale, 1.8 miles from shore. We started out trolling with two plainers down – one with a blue and pink sea witch and the other with a blue and white sea witch – both with double hooked Bonito strips behind them, along with two Bonito strips and two Ballyhoos for surface baits.  As we trolled the reefs going from 100 ft. of water out to 300 ft. of water, Bob and Tanya took turns reeling in their catches – Bonitos, Kingfish and Barracudas with Tanya catching most of them.

The Durhams wanted to catch some larger species of fish with hopes of Amberjack, Grouper or a Shark, so we headed out to deeper waters and put out three Shark baits – one on the bottom, one midrange and the other on the surface. A Shark found the surface bait and ate it – Bob was the angler and did a good job reeling in the Shark – it was a Tiger Shark.   He brought the Tiger Shark to the side of the boat – our mate, Marc grabbed the leader – hooks were released, pictures were taken and the 6 ft. Tiger Shark was released.

It was time to head back to the dock.
