Hi Everyone

We hope that you had a wonderful weekend

The weather here continues to be hot, humid and down right muggy at times.

It's almost like one of those(southern cliché) movies where you see everyone sitting on the front porch fanning themselves with a make shift fan (with whatever's handy) to keep cool, while sipping iced tea or mint juleps like they did "in the good old days". In these good old days, we are making a hasty retreat to the inside of a building to soak in the cool air dreading the moment that we have to leave and enter into the furnace again or even worse the car…

Warning, please take my advice hot leather seats with a pair of shorts and tank top could cause a serious burn!

Thank god for the air conditioner!

For the fishermen after a long hot day of fishing there's nothing better than the captain "turning on the air conditioner".

"Turning on the air conditioner" while on an open hull boat means; cranking the motor and going fast to let the wind and the occasional sea spray cool you while you are soaking up the breeze created by the speed of the boat. Ahhhh, that's a wonderful feeling, the warm sun, the salt air blowing through your clothing…

Now that's heaven!

Again this month we have been very busy!

Thank you all very much we do appreciate you fishing with us!

Now to the Fishing Report!

Inshore… During this time of year the fishing is best in the very early morning and late evening. The water temperatures are around 84-86 degrees and the fish have been finicky midday. Some days are better than others and the fish are staying along the grass flats early then going to the deeper holes when the sun gets up and warms the water. Shark fishing's been good most anywhere there's bait and deeper water. Redfish, Spanish mackerel and speckled trout are varying day to day. The tripletail (also known as sunfish) fishing has been excellent this year, with record numbers showing up in the Apalachicola Bay. Hopefully, triple tail fishing will continue to be good through out the summer season.

One good thing about hot weather is tarpon fishing. We have been seeing a few tarpon here and there within the bay and outside beaches. There's nothing better than to be watching the tarpon rolling all around you and get "hooked up" to a nice tail walker...

At this time inshore fishing is inconsistent, but wonderful on those good days.

Offshore... The captains are reporting excellent catch on both grouper and snapper in general, of course some days are better than others. An occasional slow day still happens from time to time with passing fronts but in general the fishing has been (and we hope will continue to be) good, some days being excellent offshore during the summer season. The boats have been coming in with some really nice King Mackerel and Cobia while flat lining along the reefs and wrecks in gulf waters south of St. George Island, Dog Island, St. Vincent Island and Cape San Blas. Yes, we have been extremely busy fishing our area reefs and wrecks offshore in waters 50-100 ft. in depth.

With the summer season at its end, several of our rental unit owners on Cape San Blas and St. George Island have a few openings on their rental calender. Some of the owners are offering a discount to our fishing friends! If you would like more information on the rental units that are offering a discount to our buddies please give me a call or send an email and I'll get you in contact with them...

Inshore fishermen, get ready September and October are coming, which means more consistent Redfish and Speckled Trout catch are on the way…

We are family friendly so bring the kids and let's go fishing!
