There was little change this week with the lake level on Big Sam as it remained at 157.3 feet ( 7 feet low) and both turbines at the dam are shut down. It should be understood that boaters need to use caution. Fall patterns are in place with top water action on grassy points with Popping plugs (Frenzy Poppers, Pop Rs,Yellow Magic), walking baits (Frenzy Walkers, Zara Spooks) as well as frogs (Stanley Ribbit, Berkley Bat Wing and Horney Toad).
Spinnerbaits over submerged grass is also an excellent choice. Lipless crankbaits (Frenzy Rattl'r/Rat-L-Traps) as well as mid-diving crankbaits (Norman's DLN and DD14) are catching bass in 8 to 12 feet with deeper crankbaits such as DD22s working on deeper ditches and points. The jig bite is good in the grass as well as along the edge of the grassline.
Berkley's new football jig and Stanley's Bug-eyed jig are excellent deep water baits in 12 to 25 feet.
