Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 11/1/08
Cold weather, fish in transition, made for some tougher times this past week. Although the numbers were similar the amount of opportunities was down and the slow times in between bites were longer. We had to fish hard and long for our bites, we covered more water and had to work the areas more thoroughly to catch the numbers we have been catching over the last month. Bigger fish were harder to come bye, and misses were harder to make up.
The good news was, we still averaged 20 to 30 fish a day on an 8-hour day and 10 to 15 on a 4-hour day. The bites were harder when you got them, as the bass nearly knocked your rod out of your hand to make it a successful trip.
The early part of the week I spent up river and the later part of the week in the mid part of the river. I targeted in-between areas at the mouths of the creeks and coves. Finding transition areas next to deep water proved successful and finding areas that had an edge or grass line in the transition spots was the key!
There's bass to be caught you have to search and be creative using transition baits like crank baits and finesse worms. Come fish with me I have days available all through November to fish with you!
