Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/17/10
Although I did not personally get on the water this past week, I did get an opportunity to talk to some of my trusted friends that did fish. Let me start out by saying the surface temperature in the backwaters was just above freezing 33 to 35 degrees. Over my many years of fishing Guntersville I have might as well been home instead of fishing at that type of water temperature. My fish over this type of cold water have never responded for me unless the water temperature was 38 degrees and above.
So with the fore mentioned water temperatures the fishing was very tough on Guntersville. As the week moved on and we started to see some warming temperature, I have been busy working the boat show for Stratos and Dawson Boats. My trusted buddies found some fish feeding on top in shallow water on Friday or Saturday and caught them on fast moving baits.
I'll be back on the water most of next week, and should have some first hand information. I have days open now and on through the spring. Come fish with me I'd love to get out with you on Guntersville and find a big hog to call your personal best.
