Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 8/16/08
We were blessed this past week with a little rain and cloud cover and overcast days, the heat was down and bass were fairly active. The bigger fish are moving into the creeks as we approach fall and the bite is getting and will get better and better! The lake is showing signs of fall as the grass is starting to dye and create holes over the top and just under the water; the bait is pushing into the holes and the bass are following them.
This past week was as good as it gets in the summer on Guntersville, we caught several big fish and good numbers most of the time. This week we put the biggest bass of the 2008 season in my boat weighing in at 8 lbs. 14 oz.
Most of the good fish this week came flipping Tight-Line Jigs 1 oz. in size black and blue in color. We did have some top water activity but for the most part the strong morning winds kept the top water activity fairly slow. Most of my fish came in 5 to 9 feet of water in the mid to lower part of the lake.
The fall bite is near and from the early activity and what appears to have been another good spawn this fall should be another great one! Come fish with me, spend a day on Guntersville, I have openings throughout the late summer and fall.
