This has been the year of the mangrove snapper! it has been red hot in tampa bay with the bite going off at the bay area bridges, rock piles inshore, up against the mangrove shore line and the deep water grass flats. the best way to target them is to use light tackle rods and reels on # 1 hooks with a light leader line small scaled sardines are still the best bet. shrimp is a good second choice but get hit by a lot of pinfish! there have been large spanish macks out there also. scaled sardines will work best here to. look for the snook bite to pick up as it gets cooler as they move to the backcountry and area rivers in tampa bay. trout have been good as of late on the deep grass flats! good luck tight lines on the water.
