Fishing Report, Lake Guntersville 1/16/16
To clarify, I am not back fishing yet due to the recent surgery, so my reports are some second hand information and some look at what I would be doing if I was back on the water and physically able to fish. As for an update on my progress I believe I have taken some big steps this past week and getting back on the water is in sight.
With that said the lake has been up and down as every winter generally is; your still fishing for limited bites and missing an opportunity is and can be frustrating. Those finding fish are getting 5 to 9 bites in most cases so be alert and don't miss your opportunities.
This past week to me would have been an opportunity with the colder nights and chilly days to work rocks all over the lake; look for the current that is deflecting off the rocks creating a directional change in the water. I also believe as we continue through what generally can be the coldest month you need to fish deep, not necessarily your deep summer spots but areas where road beds and creeks intersect from 12 to 18 ft. of water. These highways offer some great winter time spots for deep cranking.
You're looking for schools of fish so use your electronics to locate not only the roadbeds but the schools of fish that are moving around the access points along them.
Come fish with me no one will treat you better, we work hard to see you have a great day on the water. It's time to book your early spring fishing for 2016.
